The founder's of VetweRx have deep ties to the veterinary industry and a sincere love for animals. State-of-the-art equipment and a built to suit building are important aspects of our hospitals, but we are most proud of our people. We have assembled an experienced team at both the hospital and management level.
Dr. Bethany Yurek, DVM – Partner
Dr. Yurek grew up in Peoria, Illinois where she strived to become a veterinarian since the age of 6. She received her BS in Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois. She then left the country to enter veterinary school at Ross University on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts. She spent 1 year of clinical rotations at Oklahoma State University and moved to Colorado in 2009 to complete school at Colorado State University. Since graduating, she has been working in private practice as a small animal general practitioner. Dr. Yurek has always had an interest in wildlife and exotic animals, and has spent time at multiple wildlife centers including the Denver Zoo, Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and at a wildlife rescue in Phetchaburi, Thailand. Her professional areas of interest include internal medicine, cardiology, and exotic pets (particularly birds and ferrets). Dr. Yurek also enjoys skiing, running, and watching movies at home with her husband, cat, two Bernese Mountain Dogs, and Jack Russell terrier mix.
Dr. Jamie Yurek, DVM – Partner
Dr. Yurek grew up in Boulder, CO and received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Colby College in Waterville, ME. Prior to enrollment in Veterinary school, Jamie worked at the Christopher Reeves Foundation on stem cell research for spinal reconstruction. Jamie received his DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Yurek attended Colorado State University for his clinical year, which offers one of the biggest oncology departments in the country, delivering a high case-load of small animals that receive state-of-the-art treatment. During his final year he was given the opportunity to visit several private practices around the country in locations such as Louisiana, Oklahoma, Colorado, Northern California, and Southern California. Dr. Yurek graduated in 2009 and has since been working for equine practices.
Dr. Allison Brown, DVM – Associate DVM
Dr. Allison Brown received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Virginia Polytechnic and State University in 2006. In 2011, she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Colorado State University, accomplishing her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Brown enjoys practicing all aspects of veterinary medicine with a special interest in oral and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, physical therapy, client education, pain management and integrative medicine. Along with dogs and cats, her passions also include exotics, birds and pocket pets. In her free time, Dr. Brown can be found snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking and running with her dog Pilot.
Dr. Chad Stewart - MS, DVM – Associate DVM
Chad received his Master of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from the University of California-Davis in 1999 and 2003, respectively. After graduation, he practiced both small and large animal medicine and surgery in New Mexico and California before moving to Colorado in 2007. Since then, he has been practicing small and exotic animal medicine and surgery at several clinics along the Front Range. He really enjoys solving problems particularly difficult internal medicine and surgical cases. When he is not spending time with his 2 sons and 2 dogs, he is an avid trail runner, snowboarder, and musician playing guitar and drums.
Technicians and Staff
Jacalyn Burcher – Veterinary Technician
Jacalyn graduated from Bel-Rea in September of 2005. She has worked in emergency and general practice for her veterinary career. In 2011, she graduated from College America with Associates in Medical Specialties, obtaining certifications in Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy. Jacalyn enjoys spending time with her three Chihuahuas (Tulio, Adelita, and Papi). They all like to take long walks around Clement Park and participate in March of Dimes as well as Susan G. Komen walks. Jacalyn has been in a loving marriage since 1994, and has a daughter and son.
Lauren Simmons – CVT, Veterinary Technician
Lauren is a CVT who graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 2014. Lauren grew up in Maryland and has always had a love for both large and small animals. In her spare time she enjoys riding her horse Stanley, snowboarding, and spending time with her Chihuahua, Ziggy.
Melissa Harris – Veterinary Assistant
Melissa has been with VetweRx since 2015. She graduated from PIMA medical institute and has been here ever since! When not working, she enjoys hiking, playing video games and catching up on Scrubs and The Office. Her two dogs Evie and Cedric, as well as her hedgehog and ferret keep her on her toes.
Rebecca Sheehan – Receptionsit
Rebecca is a Colorado native who is obsessed with animals. No matter the creature you can bet she will love it as it were her own! She has compassion for all living creatures human or animal and loves helping whenever she can. She enjoys spending her days off with her son and husband.
Analora Moon Mayer – Veterinary Technician, Lead Receptionist
Analora graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 2014. After interning at VetweRx, she was hired on as a Veterinary Technician. Analora works as both a veterinary technician and lead receptionist. Analora has three dogs; Marshmellow, Almond Joy, and Jelly Bean. In her spare time Analora enjoys going hiking with her dogs and spending time with her friends and family.
Felicia Anaya – Veterinary Assistant
Felicia graduated from PIMA medical institute in 2015. Felicia has 3 dogs - Snoopy, a lhasa apso, Nala, a Chihuahua, and Boss, her Staffordshire terrier. She also has two sugar gliders, Remi and Sugar. Felicia loves being around all types of animals but most of all spending time with her own fur babies. When she's not at work, she enjoys swimming and hiking with her dogs.
Tammy Brounce – Veterinary Assistant
Tammy graduated from PIMA Medical Institute in 2009 and has worked as a veterinary assistant ever since. She has wanted to work with animals ever since she was a little girl. She has two dogs and three chickens.
